Introduction to Wong Cham Yuen (also known as Wong Tak Shing)
Born in Sanxiang, Zhongshan County, Guangdong Province in 1952. Moved to Hong Kong in 1977. Studied sketching and oil painting under Italian renowned painters Chen Xueshu and Chen Manna in 1979. Learned Chinese painting from Lingnan School master Zhao Shaoang in the 1980s, and later from another master of the same school, Yang Shanshen. Has been holding annual solo exhibitions in Hong Kong and various cities in China since his first solo exhibition at the Hong Kong Central Library in 2006.
Founded the Hong Kong Chinese Painting Research Association in August 2012 and became its first president. Has organized multiple large-scale exhibitions featuring renowned artists from both overseas and Hong Kong. His works are based on the Lingnan School of painting, incorporating more evident Western painting techniques to form a unique style of new Lingnan painting. Currently focuses on animal and figure paintings, with Bible stories as the main subject of study. His works are collected by art museums, politicians, business leaders, and private collectors.
